In a mad daze, some of the soldiers wander off into the woods, not sure what is real and what they dreamt, and what the enemy has placed in their minds in order to defeat them.

The injured soldier is tended to and starts to speak about what he saw. The enemy have enrolled the most sinister of magicians as leaders of the troops. These magicians are stationed on a hillside overlooking the battle, and have been performing the most hideous of acts upon our men. Tearing them to pieces with a flash of the hand. Boiling their blood. Actually turning them inside out.

The lieutenant awoke in the night to a black enemy figure slowly rising through the mattress next to him as through a swamp. He screamed and the figure sank back into the surface.
